OUCHI MISAKI

Born on the border of Aichi and Gifu prefectures, raised among rice paddies and fields. Graduated from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts.

During university, she was deeply influenced by Burning Man in Nevada. Three years later, she recreated an art car on Yonaguni Island.

Her mother's serious illness and death during her student years drew her toward food, dwelling, and nature — shaping her path today. Wanting to live by the rhythm of the sea, she moved to a traditional house near the ocean on Yonaguni, Japan's westernmost island. While renovating the old house, she created space for art events, artist residencies, and her own work.
Her practice helps people access what lies within themselves — through the Namae series (paintings inspired by names), improvisational collaborations with musicians, and art classes.

She reads fortunes. She loves art, dance, festivals, the sea, eggs, and her family's brown rice.
