This is a year of exhibitions. After five years on Yonaguni — Japan's westernmost island — I am bringing the work I made there back to my home region. The rhythm of life I gathered on the island, the dancing, the way of being there, the wind and the nature and the culture — all of it irreplaceable. Through this body, I want to carry it across to other cultures, other countries, other people.
Yonaguni is a place of high value for those who make. A force that shakes you at the root, that wakes you up. Please go there at least once.
I will also be holding a related exhibition in Toyota City, Aichi, May 22–24.
